I’m going to need more paper.
Ha! I know what you may be thinking: Karma is a bitch. What goes around, comes around. You get what you deserve. All these sayings are so negative, what in the world does this have to do with the Happiness Project? (that’s what I’m calling it – It’s actually my documentation of the 52 Lists for Happiness – go back and read the past few posts to catch up if you wish!)
Ha! I fooled you (maybe…you’re probably a lot smarter than that, but thanks for humoring me). Karma can be a good thing. Getting what you deserve can be a great thing! We deserve all we give in life – the good stuff. The really, really good stuff. You can’t put a price on the feeling of contentment, satisfaction or pride. This week’s list is about giving. It’s about doing the smallest thing that could potentially change a person’s day, week or life. It’s about feeling good. Now that’s happiness.
When I pulled up the “randomizer” this week and it landed on 30, I was excited to see what my list would be.
So here goes:
This is why I said I was going to need more paper. It’s tough sometimes to compliment yourself. Last week’s list (Click here to see that post) was hard! I had to really give it some thought. It shouldn’t have been – but we are our worst critics, aren’t we? But this week, well, I could go on for days – but I wont. You’re welcome. What I will do is make a small list of compliments that immediately came to mind when I turned to this page in my journal. Please feel free to apply – one or more was most definitely meant for you.
- You have the best smile
- You are a great cook
- You are the best listener
- You inspire me
- You make me laugh
- You speak the truth
- You have so much patience
- I am proud of all you
- You are determined
- Your house is always clean
- Your carrot cake is the best
- That hair, tho!
- Legs for days
- You changed my life
- Your car is pretty sweet
- You are a great mom
- You are so smart
- You give the best advice
- You are beautiful
- You have great taste
- You are such a hard worker
- I love your shoes
- I love your hair
- You have beautiful children
- You are the strongest person I know
OK friends, I got through that list in like 30 seconds – I have so much more in my head that I will be writing down in my journal. How fun is this? As always, Moorea Seal (the author of the 52 Lists for Happiness journal) gives you an action for each list. The action this week is to compliment a stranger. Don’t make it weird, even though it may seem weird. Someone needs to hear from you this week that you took notice. Let me know if you’ve ever received a random compliment and tell me how it made you feel? I wrote about this a while ago – I received a random compliment from a stranger. I’ll try and find that post, but I KNOW it made my day. Now go make someone’s day, you’ll be making yours too.
Oh, and hey if you feel like no one is taking notice of you, meet Dixie Chick. She sees you and she thinks you’re awesome. Extra awesome if you bring her oatmeal or scrambled eggs. (I know…)
Love,
The Cohns
